Nutrition Guide

Junk food is aptly named. That's exactly what it is - junk. Rarely full of the nutrients and vitamins that healthy teens need, junk food has been known to be linked to hyperactivity and lapses in focus and concentration. Your students need to be on their "A" game, so here are some recommended, nourishing food options incorporating Lucerne dairy products that will help fuel their minds and bodies.

  1. Snack on low-fat yogurt or string cheese instead of potato chips
  2. For extra protein, try our Greek Yogurt which contains 2x the protein content of regular yogurt.
  3. Drink low-fat milk instead of sodas and sugary fruit drinks.
  4. Toss the sugar-loaded toaster pastries and discover whole grain cereal w/ fat-free milk.
  5. Create a delicious pita pocket for lunch – stuff it with low-fat deli meat, low-fat Ricotta cheese, and some veggies.
  6. Snack on crisp vegetables with low-fat dips using plain Greek yogurt as a base.
  7. Start the day off right with low-fat cream cheese on whole grain toast.
  8. Enjoy cottage cheese with fruit as a snack.
  9. Make soups deliciously creamy by adding plain yogurt.
  10. Create homemade popsicles – pour yogurt into an ice cube tray and place toothpicks/mini kabob skewers in them.
  11. If you happen to be lactose intolerant, or are looking for other healthy milk substitutes, try Lactose Free Milk, Almond, Soy, or Coconut Milk as deliciously rich and creamy alternatives.
